With three new team captains and a new Hayes C team in the Hillingdon league, 2010-11 promised to be a new dawn for Hayes. As the dust settles on the league playing season, Hayes certainly showed the promise of a new era at the club.
In the Thames Valley league Hayes A under the guidance of new captain Luke Jordan defied early season expectations and went unbeaten with 9 wins and 3 draws to gain promotion as runners up to Division 2. Despite expectations of the two relegated teams Hounslow A and Surbiton B going straight back up, Hayes snuck in the middle of the two to steal the second promotion spot.
In the Hillingdon and District League all 3 teams demonstrated the promise for the future:
Hayes A (Division 1) under the guidance of Mike Broad maintained a strong assault on the league title. Beating strong favourites Harrow at home to set up an exciting end of season. Unfortunately a loss in the return fixture and additional defeat saw Hayes A finish runners up.
Robin’s Hayes B (Division 2) started strong but with a few uncomfortable results, cemented their place in the second division for another season.
Ivor’s Hayes C (Division 3) started the season well putting themselves neck and neck with Hatch End B after victory over the eventual winners at home. However, a draw away to Hatch end and defeats against Ealing C, and Greenwood saw off hopes of promotion in the teams first season. Runners up and a list of positives certainly promises an interested season next year.
